On the visit
How a Lynnwood range repair visit unfolds
The visit starts with the details gathered on the phone: gas or electric, freestanding range or wall oven, coil, glass-top or induction. On an electric oven, the technician checks the outlet and breaker with the meter, then reads the broil and bake elements, the oven sensor and, if needed, the control board’s relays. Cooktops get each infinite switch and surface element tested in turn. On a gas range, the burners are watched while lighting, the igniter’s current draw is measured, and the spark switches and module are checked if burners keep clicking. Induction units get a look at the cooling fan, the power board and pan detection. When the home’s circuit or wiring turns out to be the trouble, we show you the reading and point you to an electrician.
Amana, Frigidaire, GE and Whirlpool electric ranges fill most Lynnwood rentals and condos, often the same model across a whole building. Houses add Samsung, LG and Maytag glass-tops, GE and Café gas ranges, and occasionally a Bosch, Thermador or Miele wall oven or induction cooktop in a remodeled kitchen. KitchenAid wall ovens with separate cooktops turn up in older kitchens. Built-in units take more care to pull and protect, and some of their parts arrive by order rather than from the van. Any range still inside its maker’s warranty gets flagged to you before anything else. The $85 is the starting point of the bill: approve the written price and it lives inside that total; pass on the repair and $85 is everything you owe.
