On the visit
How Edmonds ice maker repair works on the visit
The technician checks the freezer temperature first, since an ice maker in a freezer that is too warm will never harvest. Next comes the supply: the shutoff valve, the line behind the refrigerator and the water filter, because a clogged filter or a kinked line can pass for a bad valve. Then the inlet valve is measured with the meter, both for coil resistance and for voltage when the ice maker calls for water. The fill tube is checked for ice where it enters the freezer. The ice maker assembly goes into its test cycle so the motor, the ejector and the mold heater can be watched releasing the cubes. On door-ice models the compartment fan, the gasket and the auger motor are tested as well. When a part fails, you hear which one, in plain words.
Ice makers around Edmonds sit in French-door refrigerators from GE, LG, Whirlpool and KitchenAid, side-by-sides from Frigidaire, Kenmore and Maytag, and panel-front built-ins by Café, Miele and Thermador in rebuilt kitchens. Plenty of houses with a garage refrigerator have a second ice maker out there, sometimes disconnected for years and then suddenly put back to work. We repair ice makers built into refrigerators and freezers; standalone ice machines are outside what we offer. If your refrigerator is still within its maker’s warranty, we say so first. The money side stays plain: the $85 visit is folded into the cost of a repair you approve, and if you choose not to repair, the $85 is the total.
